Beech Leaf Disease

Beech leaf disease is still relatively new to the U.S. and certainly CT. It was first found in Ohio in 2012.

The beech tree above was in decline for years. Beech leaf disease finally did it in.

It is caused by a nematode. The nematode feeds in the buds and leaves of the trees. Left untreated beech trees will die in 2-5 years. That means if you have a beech tree or trees you want to protect the time is now.

That beech tree which provides shade to keep your house cool and your lawn from burning out is in jeopardy as you read this. Luckily there is information and research available to arborists on the management of this disease.

What can I do to save my beech trees?
