Do you work in the winter?

Working on a warm day mid January

We sure do. However in the winter weather plays a more important role than the rest of the year. If the ground is too soft from melting snow or rain we try and schedule around that. We do not want to cause unnecessary damage to lawns. A good freeze can do wonders for lawns which are soft or wet for most of the year. In fact there are certain jobs we specifically schedule in the winter to accommodate our clients.

Let’s take a look at some frequently seen conditions in the winter and how we handle them to answer any questions you may have.

Snow- we usually do not mind so long as it is not too deep. We have plowed snow with equipment to access trees before.

Ice- we do not work if the ground whether a lawn or driveway is covered in ice. This is very unsafe.

Extreme cold- when the hydraulic oil doesn’t want to flow through a machine, we don’t want to be out there either. Thirty degrees is fine, but not when we are in the single digits. That is just terrible.

Dry/hard ground- Perfect!
